So sorry to the family of Frances Key. I always enjoyed the visits in the music store when she and Edwin came this way. She is still a light that shines bright through many students and colleagues making music matter! Hugs to you Carol and family.

Carol, I'm just now learning of your mother's passing and I'm so very sorry. She was always the sweetest lady! I know how talented she & your dad were and how many lives they touched and influenced with their beautiful music. I sent her a card when your dad passed away, and she wrote me the most beautiful note.I still have it. She always told me we were distant relatives through the James & Grubbs family and was always interested in learning how many of my cousins were musically talented because she thought it came through our great grandmother Grubbs. I know how hard it is to have to say good-bye to one so dear as your mother and my heart goes out to you and your family. God bless and comfort you. You must be very proud of her life, so well lived. Love & prayers, Cookie Bullock Haile

Years before I met Mrs. Key, I had heard of her talents as a musician and teacher. She proved what I had heard to be true and more. The value of what she taught my daughter and me can only be measured in heaven. She not only became our teacher, she became a dear friend. We are so thankful to have known her and been blessed by her talents. Your family are in our prayers.

Mrs. Key was our elementary music teacher back in the late 60's, and she convinced me to sing "Waltzing Matilda" in our school play. For many, many years when we would see each other in town, we would each begin singing that song to each other - a special memory of days gone by. She and Edwin were well loved in Olney and both are missed.

I don’t even know what to say. Mrs Key was and will remain one of the biggest influences in my life. I can’t even imagine what my life would have looked like without her in it. It was a great day in 2005 when I walked into the Keys’ house for my very first piano lesson. 11 years later I would walk out of it for the last time, never even realizing what a tremendous blessing those years had been. Mrs Key was the epitome of the good servant in Matthew 25:16. “Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other talents.” Mrs Key took her talents and used them to teach and grow the talents in others. She was passionate and intense and a perfectionist. She cared deeply about her students. One week on my way to her house I hydroplaned into a fence. When Mrs Key found out, she drove all the way out to where I was at to make sure I was ok, and give me a place in her car out of the rain. She knew everyone in my family by name (even though she always called my brother Nathan,) and asked about them every week.
When I visited her to tell her I was leaving for college, she cried, and told me she knew God hadn’t given me my talents for nothing. When I visited her during Christmas break, she made me play for the nursing home’s church service and insisted that no one sing while I played. Even though I pretty much butchered the song I was playing, she told me I had played beautifully and that she was proud of me. I wish I could have one more talk with her to tell her how thankful I am for her and everything she taught me. I am only now realizing how blessed I am to have the musical background she gave me.

Until we meet again.

Dear Carol & Gary; Sarah, Joshua, Jackson & Carson; Kate & Cole; and all your extended families: how my heart aches with yours over the loss of BOTH your Glover and your Key matriarchs! All y’all are in our sincere prayers.
My family’s lives were immeasurably blessed by Frances, and we thank you for sharing her with us. No doubt heaven’s music got a major upgrade when the one-and-only Frances Key arrived!

There are so very many people that were blessed by Frances and Edwin over those may years. She is a true angel of GOD and her deeds and caring will live much longer than any of us. God Bless the family and please accept my heartfelt condolences.
