My sincere condolences to the Sumbera family. I enjoyed spending time with Ben and my brother James Draper each year at the UIL state basketball tournaments in Austin and he stayed in our home. Last year we attended the tournament in San Antonio and he always enjoyed our $1 bets on each of the games! He was such a giving person and I will miss him!

So sorry to learn of Ben's passing. He was very generous with his time and a regular fixture at our Sto Dgo RPCV reunions. We could always count on Ben to document our gatherings and distribute photo collections to all participants. I believe it was at the 2017 Denver gathering that we had a chance to meet his grandson. They were a team.

Remember Ben,
Speak of Ben as you have always done. Remember the good times, laughter, & fun. Share the happy memories you've made. Do not let them wither or fade.
Ben will be with you in the summer's sun and when the winter's chill has come. Ben will be the voice that whispers in the breeze. Ben is peaceful now, put your mind at ease. Ben has rested his eyes and gone to sleep, but memories you have shared are yours to keep. Sometimes our final days may be a test, but remember Ben when he was at his best. Although things may not be the same, don't be afraid to use his name. Let your sorrow last for just a while. Comfort each other and try to smile. Ben lived a life filled with joy and fun. Live on now, make Ben proud of what you will become.

Sorry to hear about Ben’s passing and my prayers and thoughts go out to the family. I enjoyed the times being a part of the dove hunts we had in Megargel with Ben and my Uncle James and my dad Joe Draper.

Ben was a couple of grades behind me, but in Megargel everyone knew everyone and age didn’t matter. Had reconnected in recent years with some of the school get togethers. He was a great, generous, loving man. I was so honored when he recently attended my sister, Mary Kreiter Darilek’s funeral. It meant a great deal to my family. To his family, know that he will be fondly remembered.

Deepest sympathy to family of Ben Sumbera. Enjoyed his visits to family here in Memphis, including one with his mother Mary, my aunt, several years ago.

I enjoyed visiting with Ben at the State Tournament for many years. Our Megargel connection made the visits even better. He was a fine Christian man.
