Oliver Watson, age 94, died Thursday, June 13, 2019 at his home in Olney. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Elbert Cemetery in Elbert, Texas, with Rev. David Carpenter, pastor of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Oliver was born on July 19, 1924 in Elbert, Texas to the late Edgar Newton Watson and Dora (Cook) Watson. He married Marilyn Miller on May 29, 1946 in Montague County. He served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Force during World War II in the 815 Bomb Squadron 483 Bomb Group. He received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with 6 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. He moved to Olney in 1979 from McKinleyville, California and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Oliver had worked in the wing shop at Air Tractor until his retirement. He liked to build model airplanes and enjoyed building and working with electric trains. He also liked to do woodworking projects and built the cabinets and bookcases in his home as well as making a complete addition to his home. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Carri Ickert, and eleven brothers and sisters.

Oliver is survived by his wife, Marilyn Watson of Olney, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Teodora Watson of San Diego, California; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Larry Baxter of Olney, Texas, Cindy and Chris Tinker of Chico, California and Vicky and Gayle Bullock of Poolville, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy and Dara Nell and her husband Tim; as well as eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
