Ada Smith, age 96, died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Grace Care Center in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2015, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Robert Horton of Kyle, Texas, officiating, assisted by Kenneth Escue of Wichita Falls, Texas. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.
Ada was born on December 25, 1918 in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Clarence Luther and Ruby (Traughber) Escue. She married Eli Smith on February 21, 1940 in Archer City, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1991. Ada was a homemaker and loved fishing with her family. She was a member of the Church of God, and she had lived in Olney most of her life.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eli; four brothers; R.B. Escue, G.G. Escue, Clarence Escue, Lutrell Escue; and two sisters: Anna Mercer and Marion Timm.
Survivors include three sons: Billy Smith and wife Sandra of Bedford, Texas, David Smith and wife Donna and Gary Smith and wife Jan, both of Wichita Falls, Texas; two daughters: Linda Horton and husband Robert of Kyle, Texas and Sharon Barker of Hurst, Texas; sister, Bonnie Gant of Wichita Falls, Texas; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
