Alton Sheppard, age 81, died December 17, 2011 in Springtown, Texas. Funeral services will at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Andy Sheppard of Rockwall, Texas officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Olney under the ion of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Alton was born December 15, 1930 in Hodges, Texas to the late William Mack and Edith Leona McKinney Sheppard. He served eight years in the United States National Guard attaining the rank of Sergeant. He married Betty Cain on October 19, 1950. She preceded him in death in 1971. Alton then married Betty Palmer on July 31, 1979 in Mineral Wells, Texas. He was a route representative for the Wichita Falls Times Record News, worked in the oilfield, and as a sales clerk. Alton was a member of the Hamilton Street Church of Christ. He had recently moved to Springtown from Olney.

Mr. Sheppard is survived by his wife Betty of Springtown, Texas four sons, Danny Sheppard and wife June of Abilene, Texas, Scott Sheppard and wife Ruth of Midland, Texas, Jerry Wayne Williamson of Springtown, Texas, and Bobby Burns and wife Angie of Springtown, Texas two daughters, Debbie Johnson and husband Danny of Springtown, Texas, and LaDell Kirby of Breckenridge, Texas two brothers, Tommy Sheppard and wife Joy of Azle, Texas, and Kenny Sheppard and wife Starr of Georgetown, Texas one sister, Peggy Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas fifteen grandchildren, and twentyone greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at the funeral home.
