Avis Yvonne Boyd, a long-time resident of Elbert, Texas, died Friday, February 8, 2013 in Houston, Texas. Born July 3, 1927, to Raymond and Mae Oldham, she was the fourth of five children. She married Floyd D. Boyd December 6, 1943 and began her family and life as a loving and devoted wife and mother.

Avis, also known as Yvonne to her friends and neighbors in Wichita Falls, loved cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed socializing with friends and playing cards and dominoes. When not cooking and entertaining, she could be found working tirelessly on cross-stitching and quilting. Her most endearing quality was her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Her anecdotes, storytelling and laughter will be missed. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Avis Yvonne Boyd is preceded in death by her husband on July 8, 1990. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Rankin of Houston and Patricia Boyd of Wichita Falls; her sister, Kathleen Burrows; her grandchildren, Yvonne Hughes and husband, Dean, Dan Rankin and wife, Darlene, Amy Finigan and husband, Matt; along with her nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Daniel Rankin, Gage Hughes, Joshua Hughes, Stephen Hughes, Lila Finigan and Nicholas Finigan who brought her great joy to her later years.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers pastor of First Baptist Church in Goree, Texas officiating. Burial will follow at Throckmorton Cemetery in Throckmorton, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
