November 21, 1932 - October 31, 2014

Bill R. Alexander, age 81, died October 31, 2014, in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, and a private interment service will be held at Westover Cemetery. Memorial services will be held Monday, November 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Olney with the Rev. Lewis Holland presiding.

Bill was born November 21, 1932 near Westover, Texas to the late Mollie Mae (Brinkley) Alexander and William Oler Alexander. He was a graduate of Megargel High School and North Texas State College. He married Nevelyn Dawn Crawford on June 21, 1958, in Fort Sumner, New Mexico.

His 15 years in human resources with Conoco included time in Texas, Louisiana and New York before the family returned to Texas in 1971. Bill worked for Mesa Petroleum from 1971 to 1985, where he ultimately served as Vice President of Personnel and Administration.

Bill and Nevelyn retired to the family farm near Westover, and the Alexanders owned the Ben Franklin store in Olney from 1986-1991. Bill and Nevelyn were faithful members of First United Methodist Church in Olney, and Bill was active in the Olney Rotary Club and Westover Cemetery Association. Bill and Nevelyn moved to Bryan/College Station in 2012 and joined Christ United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marjorie Farr.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nevelyn; three daughters: Melinda Koster and husband Mark of Amarillo, Kathryn Alexander of College Station, and Anne Abston and husband Ty of Mount Pleasant, Texas; son Ben Alexander and wife Chelsea of Fort Worth; three grandchildren: Taylor Abston, Tanner Abston and Sydney Alexander; five sisters: Frances Hayter Copeland, Glenda Potter, Doris Richardson, Bobbie Bishop, and Betty Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Methodist Home in Waco, First United Methodist Church in Olney, and Hospice Brazos Valley in Bryan.
