Billy Neal McGee, Jr. was born on April 29, 1949, to Billy and Oleta (Langston) McGee in Olney, Texas. He passed away on August 10, 2025, at his home in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Olney at 10:00 am with Reverend Harrell Braddock, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Red Top Cemetery.

Billy graduated from Olney High School in 1967 and from Midwestern State University in 1971. After graduation, Billy started his career at the Wichita Falls Times Record News. He loved journalism, but he also loved the mountains in northern New Mexico. After a few years, Billy moved to Taos, New Mexico, where he owned a retail business until his retirement in 2017. He then moved back to Olney to be closer to family.

Billy is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marilynn Ickert and husband David, his niece and nephews: Andrew Ickert and his wife Rachel, Mark Ickert and his wife Jordan, and Kara Blanco and husband Joel. He leaves his great-nephews and nieces: Emily, Alex, Evan, Cole, Bryson, Aiden, Hattie, and Lane, whom he enjoyed immensely. Other surviving relatives include two aunts, Evelyn McGee and Billie Langston, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles whom he loved.
