~ Bobby Wayne Bruton, age 85, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in Decatur, Texas. Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Jean Cemetery in Jean, Texas with Scotte Clark, of Olney, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Bobby was born on June 26, 1928 in Henrietta, Texas to the late R.L. Bruton and Katie (Norvell) Bruton. He and several classmates purposely failed their senior test assuring that they could play one more year of football and graduate in 1947. Bobby served in the Korean War as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class. On August 21, 1954 he married Patsy Thornburg in Waurika, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on July 12, 1989. He was an oilfield pipeline worker. He moved from Jean to Decatur in 2009, and he was a member of the Church of Christ. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Opal Kidd.

Survivors include his son: Rodney Bruton and wife Frances of Decatur, Texas; daughters: Pamela Bruton of Tampa, Florida, and Sheila Creekmore of Van, Texas; ten grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
