Charles Allen Rockenbaugh passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the age of 87, leaving behind a loving family and a lifetime of treasured memories.

Charles was born on September 12, 1938, in Olney, Texas, to Claude and Colene (Whitsitt) Rockenbaugh. He was raised in Olney, Texas, where his early years helped shape the strong, hardworking man he would become.

At just 17 years old, Charles proudly joined the United States Navy and began serving his country. While stationed in California, he married the love of his life, Nancy Lowry, at age 19 in Compton. Together, Charles and Nancy built a life filled with family and raised four children: their daughter, Claudene, and their sons, Allen, James, and Robert.

Family was at the heart of Charles's life. Over the years, the family he and Nancy began grew to include ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. His legacy will live on through each of them and through the stories, memories, and traditions they will continue to share.

Charles is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Dunsworth and Sarah York; his daughter, Claudene Wilton; his sons, Allen, James, and Robert Rockenbaugh; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and many other family members and loved ones who will deeply miss him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Rockenbaugh, and his parents, Claude and Colene Rockenbaugh.

Charles lived a long life marked by service and devotion to his family. From the young man from Olney who joined the Navy at 17 to the husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather he became, his life created a legacy spanning generations.

Although his family will deeply feel his absence, they find comfort in knowing that Charles and Nancy are together once again. His memory will remain in the hearts of the family they built together.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lunn Funeral Home.

Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Ken McHenry officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas, under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
