He was known as one of the most successful cotton farmers around, a testament to his dedication and hard work. When he wasn't tending to the land, he found joy in fishing, his loyal dogs by his side, and gathering with family over good meals. He especially loved big Christmas celebrations and spending summer days at the lake with his grandkids. A man who worked hard and played hard, his legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance will forever be remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clifford and Jewel May Smith Heard; his siblings: brothers Gerald Heard, Floyd Heard, Lloyd Heard, and sister Alwana Heard Womble. His first wife Geneva Walters Heard, and his second wife Joann Williams Heard.
Dale is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy High Heard of Graham, Texas; his children: Jan Janssen (Mike) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sanford Heard of Olney, Texas, Rhonell George (Nancy) of Holliday, Texas, Nanette Ames (Rich) of Missouri, Richard Heard (DeLisa) of Iowa Park, Texas and Lisa Heard Clayton of Minnesota. His bonus children: Jim Stout of Seymour, Texas and Wendy Jones of Jacksboro, Texas. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. And one sister-in-law, Jo Heard of Munday, Texas.
