Obituary

Charlsie Clytee Burdick Scobee, age 85 of Olney, Texas, died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, May 6, 2011.

Services celebrating her life will be at 4 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Torian, pastor of the First United Methodist Church and Scotte Clark, officiating. Interment will follow in the True Cemetery under the ion of Lunn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Scobee was born September 1, 1925 in Young County, Texas to the late Henry and Cleo Purselley Burdick of the Red Top Community, Young County, Texas. Clytee graduated as Valedictorian from Graham High School in 1942. She was also a graduate of North Texas State Teacher39s College. On August 3, 1947, she and Glen Scobee were married in Red Top Community. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2003. She began her teaching career in the True Community and later retired in 1985 from the Olney Independent School District after 30 years of service. She was a charter member of the Olney Retired Teacher39s Association. She and Glen were partners in all aspects of their lives the Conoco Wholesale Business, farming and ranching, the Olney Lions Club, as well as serving together in various church activities. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member and pianist for the Unity Sunday School Class. She was a member of the choir for many years and taught preschool Sunday School for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rubye Burdick, Juanita Johnson, and Faydell Beck Robinson.

Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Scobee of Olney, Texas one son, Charles Scobee of Olney, Texas two brothersinlaw, Otis Scobee of Iowa Park, Texas and Frank Scobee of Burkburnett, Texas two sistersinlaw, Mae Goodloe and Vida Scobee both of Olney numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family suggests memorials be made to the Methodist Men39s Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 305 Olney, Texas 76374, the Hamilton Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 158, Olney, Texas 76374, or ones favorite charity.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
