Cynthia Ann (Colgan) Coon

Cynthia Ann (Colgan) Coon, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 1:00 pm in Megargel Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Cynthia was born on October 9, 1947, to the late Howard and Nell (Spencer) Colgan in Wichita Falls, Texas. She graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics. In September of 1968, she married Gary Coon in Megargel, Texas, and they spent fifty-seven years together before her passing. Cynthia was a teacher for many years before she retired. In her free time, she loved to paint with watercolors. Cynthia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, very social and with a significant number of friends. She was firm in her faith in God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Nell (Spencer) Colgan.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Gary Coon of Lubbock, Texas, her sons and one daughter-in-law: Jason Coon and wife Lauren of Amarillo, Texas, and Matthew Coon of Lubbock, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law Allison Etheredge and husband Eric of Lubbock, Texas, her three grandchildren: Abby Etheredge, Carter Coon, and Lily Coon, and her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy Purswell and husband Rodney of Martindale, Texas.
