Darla Kodar, age 82, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, at John Petersmith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home, with Dr. Chad Edgington officiating. Casual dress is recommended for the funeral service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Darla was born on November 25, 1942, in Andrews, Texas, to the late M.R. and Lorene (Bagley) Speer. She married Wayne Barrett on November 23, 1960, in Young County; he preceded her in death in 2015. She married Stephen Kodar on August 3, 1977, and they spent over forty years together before he preceded her in death in April 2021. She spent most of her life in Norfolk, Virginia, before moving to Loving in 1977. Darla and Stephen went on many cruises before his death. She was an independent sales representative for several different companies from her home. Darla enjoyed cooking her mom and sister's recipes in her younger years, but as she got older, she enjoyed going out to eat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, M.R. and Lorene (Bagley) Speer, and her husband, Stephen Kodar.

Darla is survived by her daughter Sharla "Charlie" Carr of Olney, Texas; her three grandchildren, Angie Roznovsky of Cuero, Texas, Rene Montana of Boston, Massachusets, and Matt Carr of Pensacola, Florida; her six great-grandchildren, her sister Daphne Hawkins of Weatherford, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her longest friend Vickie Coy of Joplin, Missouri. Also mourning her passing is her grand kitty Yoda.
