Darlene Morris Kissinger, 80, died on Saturday, October 6, 2012, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Rev. John Beckling of Brownwood, Texas, officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas. Arrangements are under the ion of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Darlene was born on December 6, 1931, in True Community, Texas, to the late Samuel Alfred and Mattie Green Morris. She graduated from Olney High School in 1948, and then attended and graduated from North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, Texas. She married Norris Kissinger on February 16, 1952, in Olney, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1983. She had a long and successful career teaching public school for 34 years that included 3 years in Brownfield, Texas, one year in Ropesville, Texas, and the last 30 years at Midland High and Midland Lee High Schools. She taught business, typing, shorthand and other related courses. Darlene also loved living and working on the family ranch. She was known as the DimeBaby because her sister, Margie, saved dimes to pay the doctor the 25.00 to deliver her. Darlene was especially close to her niece Patricia Mixon and son, Phillip. She moved to Olney in 1982 from Midland, Texas. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents her husband two brothers: Foy Morris in 1956 and Roy Morris in 2000 and one greatnephew: Phillip Nantz in 1979.
Darlene is survived by one sister: Margie Mixon of Olney, Texas four nieces: Patricia Mixon of Olney, Texas Martha Cogburn and husband Phil of Farmers Branch, Texas Nancy Bachman and husband Larry of Olney, Texas Sandra Kee and husband Billy Ray of Graham, Texas and numerous greatnieces and greatnephews.
Family visitation will be Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 57 pm at the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home.
