MSG Dave Tatum, U.S. Army, Retired, age 91, died Saturday, December 12, 2020 in Megargel, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Chad Edgington, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Megargel Cemetery in Megargel. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Dave was born on August 9, 1929 in Megargel to the late Joe Ellis Tatum and Ida Augusta (Wilhelm) Tatum. He served his country proudly in the United Sates Army during the Korean War and Vietnam War and retired after twenty-four years of service. During his military career, Dave received the Bronze Star for service in Vietnam and numerous awards and commendations. Dave was a lifetime resident of Megargel and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Ellen Louise McCuistian on December 28, 1955. After his retirement from the Army, he was a technician for ten years at the Naval Space Surveillance Station in Archer County. Dave loved ranching and working cattle, gardening and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Dorothy Davis and Lucille Gosler, and two brothers, Charles Tatum and Joe Wilhelm Tatum.

Dave is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Glen Tatum of Megargel and Carl and Kim Tatum of Pampa; one grandson, David Andrew Tatum and his wife Jennifer of Pampa; two great-grandsons, Daken Andrew Tatum and Joshua David Tatum both of Pampa; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
