David Jackson, age 72, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his home in Megargel, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at Westover Cemetery in Westover, Texas with Chad Edgington, pastor of First Baptist Church in Olney, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

David was born on June 6, 1949, in Olney, Texas to the late Hugh L. Jackson and Zell May (Vann) Jackson. He served honorably in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was the former Commander of the Archer City American Legion, Post 198.  David was a longtime resident of Megargel and a member of the Downtown Men's Bible Class in Olney. He was a drilling superintendant in the oilfield until his retirement. David married Becky Moore on June 5, 1993, in Archer County. He enjoyed riding his Kubota with his dog, Cindy, and he loved to talk.

David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Harrell Jackson and Donald H. Jackson; two sisters: Doris Howle and Judith Riley; a cousin, Robert Howle; two nephews: Jim Bob Riley and Brad Tomlinson; and a granddaughter, Morgan Lawrance.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Jackson of Olney; two daughters: Samantha Beaty of Olney and Meredith Jackson of Burleson; two sons: Chris Jackson of Grapevine and Donald Jackson of Jacksboro; two step-daughters: Jennifer Teauge and Christy Herpeche both of Heber Springs, Arkansas; two step-sons: Randall Kimbro and Jimmy Kimbro both of Olney; one sister, Linda Tomlinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Caleb Powell Jackson, Cody Bennett, Josh Bennett, Abbi Beaty, Levi Jackson and Madison Jackson; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
