Dessie Johnson, age 86, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas. Burial will be at Elbert Cemetery in Elbert, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Dessie was born on January 24, 1927 to the late Thomas M. and Doshie (Hann) Cook in Round Timbers, Texas. She worked as a dietician in the food industry. Dessie and Lester A. Johnson were married on June 22, 1946 in Elbert, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Valley, Texas.

Dessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Willard Cook, and her sister, Liz Worthington.

Survivors include her son, Rodney Johnson and wife Jennifer of Keller, Texas; two daughters, Peggy Armstrong and husband Bo of Pleasant Valley, Texas and Pat Smith and husband George of Reddick, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Bethany Johnson, Ruthie Johnson, Abigail Johnson, Cody Houston, Casey Armstrong, Christy Thomas, and Shawn Wilson; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be Sunday, June 16, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home.
