Dewey Luke Deaver, age 72, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his home in Jean, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Markley Baptist Church in Markley, Texas, with Gary Elrod, pastor of Faith Center in Graham, Texas, officiating. Interment will follow at the Markley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Dewey was born on August 17, 1949, in Graham, Texas to the late M.D. Deaver and Corene Mae (Williams) Deaver. He served his country valiantly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He received numerous medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He was a lifetime resident of Young County and a member of Faith Center Assembly of God in Graham. Dewey received his Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering and had worked at Graham Magnetics for many years. He previously was a machinist at Southern Bleachers. He married Lynda Faye Shook on January 19, 1988 in Graham. Dewey was an avid fisherman, loved animals and was an avid gardener. He was a huge sports fan and was present at all sports events for his children and grandchildren. He was known as "Santa Clause" with his handsome beard and was also known to hand out two dollar bills to young children. Dewey had a heart for ministry and enjoyed doing missionary work and ministering to inmates at Young County Jail.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Deaver; and a nephew, Dewayne Nash.

Dewey is survived by his wife, Lynda Faye Deaver of Olney; three daughters: Belynda Holt and husband Ryan of Olney, Faughnda Curnutte and husband Wayne of Olney and Robbie Deaver of Graham; one son, Todd Deaver of San Antonio; two sisters: Mae Dean Marshall of Newcastle and Eunice Nash and husband Gene of Irving; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
