Wayne was born on December 18, 1937 in Seymour, Texas to the late James Madison Echols and Allie Mae (Easley) Echols. First and foremost, Wayne loved the Lord and he practiced what he preached with his compassion and kindness that he showed toward others, never considering their social status. He was always eager to help anyone in need and leaves a great legacy of Christian love. If you knew Wayne, you loved him. He truly loved spending time with his family. He married Marilyn Marquetta Kellar on May 24, 1963. He worked along side of Quetta as owners of Quetta's Short Stop in Megargel. To this day, people remember her burgers. They also owned a bakery in Olney for a short period of time and were co-owners of Echols RV Park. Wayne had worked in the oilfield prior to starting the café. He went to work for Archer County, Pct. 3 and worked there until his retirement. He was a maintainer operator and was known as the best bladesman in the country. Marquetta preceded him in death on June 12, 2006. He married Elizabeth Inman on April 8, 2011, in Archer City. Wayne was well known for his and Elizabeth's Thursday night fellowship.
Wayne was also preceded in death by two sons, Baby Boy and Kevin Heath Echols; four brothers, J.C. Echols, W.H. Echols, Buster Echols and Bill Echols; three sisters, Thelma Howe, Maye Thomas and Mary Ellen Malone; and a step-son, Brett Box.
