Edith L. Bernhardt, age 99, died June 20, 2018 at Grace Care Center in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olney, Texas, with Rev. Sean Reeves, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Edith was born on March 30, 1919 in Tipton, Oklahoma to the late Guy Mont Knipe and Alice Amanda (Hughes) Knipe. She married August A. "Buddy" Bernhardt on July 24, 1938 in Olney, Texas. She was a very good help mate to August. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1982. She later married Richard Jackson on October 3, 1984 in Graham, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1999. Edith was a longtime resident of Olney where she had worked as a Nurse at Hamilton Hospital and was a clerk at Horany's Department Store. She was also a dispatcher for Tucker & Stephens Trucking Company in Graham, Texas. Edith was a longtime member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where she served on the Church Love Committee, taught Sunday School, and was a member and officer of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Edith had a servant's heart and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Hamilton Hospital for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and twelve siblings.

Edith is survived by her children: Allen Bernhardt and wife Paula of Olney, Texas; Herb Bernhardt and wife Sally of Holliday, Texas; and Betty Reinert and husband Wayne of Weatherford, Texas; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home.
