Edith Farmer died April 7, 2011 from complications of pulmonary heart disease. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church of Olney with Gary Torian officiating. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery under the ion of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.


Although small of stature, she sometimes seemed larger than life. She lived a long, full life dedicating herself to her family and many friends. Born in Anahuac, Texas on November 27, 1913, she married Hayden Farmer in 1944 and moved to Olney when World War II ended. Playing the piano was one of her favorite pastimes. She played not only for her own enjoyment, but also for her friends as well as the First Methodist Church Sunday school classes. Sadly, her extreme hearing loss ended her music enjoyment, but she managed to remain cheerful and positive. She was an avid bridge player and played regularly until the last few months of her life. She was a member of the Amity Club, Hamilton Auxiliary, music club, and various civic endeavors.


She was preceded in death by her parents, L.R. and Etta Miller, and by all seven siblings three brothers and four sisters. She leaves behind two sons, Jim Farmer of Dallas, and Lewis Farmer and wife Marilyn of Olney. She delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and is survived by two granddaughters and four great grandchildren: Michelle Montgomery and husband Jamey of Olney, and their two daughters Meredith and Megan of Fort Worth and Sherri Ham and husband Kerry, and their children Nathan and Natalie of Rocklin, California.


The family would like to express our gratitude to her caregiver, Mary Ann Livingston, and to Gail Story for her friendship and help these past many years. Also special thanks to the staff of 7Oaks Nursing Home and Hospice of Wichita Falls for their excellent care.





Visitation will be Saturday evening, April 9, 2011 from 6 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
