Edna Raye Garrett, age 84, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Gainesville, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Harrell Braddock Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Olney, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Edna was born October 8, 1941, in Woodson, Texas, in Throckmorton County. She married Benny Dan Garrett on July 27, 1957, in Olney, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2017. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to taking care of her family. She cherished her children and grandchildren and found great joy in being there for the people she loved.
Edna will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and for the many ways she cared for and supported them throughout her life. Her family was the center of her world, and her love and memories will remain with them always. She was kind and wanted to help others. She particularly enjoyed being a Pink Lady with the hospital auxiliary in Gainesville. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksboro, Texas.
Edna loved to paint and had an artistic flair. She enjoyed decorating her home, collecting antiques, and going to garage sales. Her creativity, kind and gentle spirit, and her pearls of wisdom will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Tina Danette Bindel and her husband, Ben of Muenster, Texas; and Renee’ Davis and her husband, Allen of Gainesville, Texas; and Benny Mack Garrett and his wife Tricia of Rowlett, Texas. She is also survived her 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and other loving family members and friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Martin and Billie Malone Deatherage; her husband, Benny Dan Garrett; one son, Danny Ray Garrett; one sister, Joyce Boatman; two brothers, Pete Vinson and Billy Don Deatherage.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all who have offered prayers, love, and support during this time.
