Ernest H. Everett Jr., age 76, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at United Regional in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney with Dr. Chad Edgington, pastor of First Baptist Church Olney, officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Ernest was born to the late Ernest H. Everett Sr. and Sally Long Everett on July 18, 1947, in Olney, Texas. Ernest served in the United States Army for several years. He fought in the Vietnam War and earned several medals, including a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Two Overseas Bars. Ernest also worked in the oil field as a drilling consultant after his time in the Army. He loved writing autobiographies and his one-liners about life. He loved taking pictures of his family and scenery and visiting the casino. Ernest loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Ernest is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Ernest H. Everett III and Christina, of Graham, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law: Bobbie Jo and Dennis Starkey, of Graham, Texas; seven grandchildren: Alexis Wilde, Jonathon Beauten, Kirstan Everett, Casey Starkey, Jacob Hutchins, Kaitlynn Everett, and Kennady Everett; and eight great-grandchildren.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents Ernest H. Everett Sr. and Sally Long Everett, his brother Fred Everett, and his sister Nelda Sue Everett Hamm.
