Fannie Adcock, age 93, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas with Rev. Doug Gaskey, officiating. Interment will be in the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Fannie was born on June 4, 1928 in Waco, Texas to the late Spurgeon DeWitt Swinney and Sadie Elizabeth (Bates) Swinney. She married Edwin Charles Adcock on August 29, 1948, in McAllister, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2001. She was a homemaker and elementary school teacher. Fannie was a member of First Baptist Church in Grapevine since 1981 where she taught adult Sunday School for thirty years. She was also a vital part of WMU (Women's Missionary Union/Women on Mission) and enjoyed singing in the Senior/Adult Choir. Fannie's hobbies included playing golf, bowling and riding her bike. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Jean McGovern, a brother, Spurgeon Swinney, and her son-in-law, Bob Anderson.
Fannie is survived by four daughters: Lucille Sheriff and husband Paul of Highland Village, Texas, Kathryn Neal and husband Gary of College Station, Texas, Rebecca Anderson of Harrison, Arkansas and Patricia Ridgley and husband Bob of Olney, Texas; one son, Edwin Adcock and wife Debbie of Conway, Arkansas; her twin sister, Ida Males of Hemet, California; eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
