Frances Black, age 94, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Hospice of Wichita Falls. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2023, at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Chad Edgington, pastor of First Baptist Church in Olney, officiating.  Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Frances was born on November 18, 1928, in Megargel, Texas to the late Thomas Harley Sutton and Leona Belle (West) Sutton. She moved from Megargel to Olney in 1947 and graduated from Olney High School. She married Nat Black on March 3, 1949 in Denton, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2018. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Olney. Frances was the supervisor of housekeeping at Olney Hamilton Hospital for many years and was a dedicated employee and a perfectionist. She was strong willed, but a very caring person who always gave love, encouragement and smiles. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and always looked forward to visiting with relatives. Frances enjoyed sewing and was very talented at stitchery and quilting. She was a lover of country music and loved going to Branson, Missouri. She also enjoyed going to Bluegrass Festivals, and liked camping and traveling with Nat in their camper.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Leola Mae Garner and Bernice Avera; and two brothers, Paul Sutton and Leonard Sutton.

Frances is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Susan Black of Dallas; two grandchildren: Lauren Black of Dallas and Ryan Black of Dallas; and one sister, Joyce Goldsmith of Olney.
