Frank Bailey, age 83, died Monday, January 30, 2017, at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, with Scotte Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Frank was born on October 1, 1933 in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia to the late William Edward and Mary Ethel (Backus) Bailey. He married Doylene Davis on December 12, 1952 in Roswell, New Mexico. Frank served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Olney in 1956 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was the first auto mechanic instructor at Olney High School and retired from Lockhead Martin in Fort Worth as a landing gear mechanic. Frank loved gardening and truly enjoyed working his livestock. He was a guidance counselor to many. He loved being around his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers and two sisters.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Doylene Bailey of Olney; one son and daughter-in-law, Frankie and Becky Bailey of Olney; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lydia and Mark Ficker of Olney and Regina and James Damron of Olney; one sister, Mary Ethel Pauley of St. Albans, West Virginia; five grandchildren: Amanda Barrientes and husband Raul of Olney, Melinda Horn and husband David of Graham, Kayla Conder and Bud Youngblood of Olney, Nathan Conder of Paulsboro, New Jersey, Kristin Conder of Richland, New Jersey; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
