Franklin Lee Fischer, age 71, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, in Olney, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Graham, Texas, with Pastor Douglas Kabell officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Franklin was born on October 1, 1952, in Temple, Texas to the late Gilbert Herbert Fischer and LaVern (Tschoertner) Fischer. He was valedictorian of his high school graduating class at Bartlett High School. He started college at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin and later transferred to University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering in 1976. He married Donna Terry on May 31, 1975, in Olney, Texas. After graduation from college, he and Donna moved to Lake Jackson, Texas where he worked for Dow Chemical. They moved to Olney in 1989 and Franklin became involved in the community by serving on the Olney Airport Board and the Olney Economic Development Board. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Graham. Franklin worked with numerous companies in Wichita Falls where his expertise in structural engineering was highly valued. He was a member of the "Elderly Wellness Check" group and enjoyed visiting with his close friends each evening.

Franklin is survived by his wife, Donna Terry Fischer of Olney, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and James Rose of Allen, Texas; one son, Andrew Fischer of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren: Alexander Rose and Tabitha Rose; one sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Mike Peters of Seguin, Texas; his mother-in-law, Luella Terry of Olney, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
