Freda Burris Farina, age 81, formerly of Olney, died Sunday, November 8, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Olney with Chad Edgington, pastor, officiating. A private family graveside service at Restland Cemetery will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Freda was born on March 3, 1934 in Nevada, Texas to the late James Elbert Tadlock and Bertie Jane (Smith) Tadlock. She married Billy Joe Burris on June 6, 1953 in Dallas, Texas, and they moved to Olney in 1964 from Frederick, Oklahoma. While living in Olney, Freda worked for Olney Savings and Loan and later opened Freda's Gifts and Jewelry. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association and a member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the adult choir for many years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Joe Burris, on June 4, 1994. She married Carlo Joseph Farina, Jr. on March 2, 1996 in Olney and later moved to Irving.
Freda is survived by her husband, Carlo Farina of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Connie Horany and husband Mark of Olney; one son, Mike Burris and wife Shannon of Big Spring; one step-daughter, Leneigh Purtell and husband Michael; grandchildren: Heather Mooty and husband Clark of Lubbock, Traci Bayer and husband Adam of Vernon, Lindsey Pilarczyk and husband Chris of Wichita Falls, Courtney Carson and husband Murray of San Angelo, Samantha Purtell, Rachel Voldness, Shawn Sadler, C.J. Hall; great-grandchildren: Emerson Mooty, Scarlett Mooty, Beckett Bayer, Gavin Bayer, Peyton Pilarczyk, Addison Carson and Cooper Carson.
Very special thanks goes to Donna and Stefan Elofsson and her entire family who made the last several years of Freda's life full of joy, hope, and love, not only for our Mother, but to our entire family.
Family visitation will be Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
