Garry Rhodes, age 76, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2022, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Chad Edgington, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Garry was born on December 23, 1945 in Archer City, Texas to the late Alfred B. Rhodes and Velma J. (Norman) Rhodes. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Airman First Class. He was a longtime resident of Olney and a member of Southside Baptist Church. Garry retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 30 plus years. He then worked part-time for Brazos Cellular and took his second retirement after 15 years. Garry also worked on lawnmowers and small engine equipment. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working with his animals. He married Carol J. Lambert on February 4, 1972, in Olney. She preceded him in death on September 28, 2020.

Survivors include two sons: Lonny Ray Hope of Olney and Kennith James Shepard and wife Misty Shepard of Ft. Worth; three sisters: Janette Hughes of Lindale, Ann Harrelson of Wichita Falls, and Neva Copeland of Florida; nine grandchildren: Katrina Denise Stanfield and husband Chris, Dustin Ray Hope and wife Shanda, Kristopher James Shepard and wife Mellie, Carissa Simone Shepard, Brady Shepard, Sarah Neuharth, Tony Delgado, Melissa Johnson, Casey Don Hudson; thirteen great-grandchildren: Kameron Shepard, Mila Shepard, Ivory DeRose, Timothy DeRose, Cambria Acevedo, Cayson Hope, Collin Hope, Keen Hope, Victoria Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Hunter Beauchamp, Carah Beauchamp, Makenna Shepard; and two great-great-grandchildren: Destiny Beauchamp and Liam Beauchamp.
