Gene Blair, age 81 of Newcastle, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019. No services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.

Gene was born March 11, 1938 in Weatherford, Texas to the late Alton Blair and Cordy (Caldwell) Blair. He married Marie Byrd on August 12, 1981 in Odessa, Texas. He moved to Newcastle in 1987 from Graham. Gene was a self employed clutch builder. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Texas Rifle Association and he was a proud Republican. He loved to go fishing, and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Blair of Newcastle; two daughters: Macy Blair of Hobbs, New Mexico and Rhonda Newland and husband Jon of Graham; three sons: Sam Blair of Newcastle, Kevin Blair and wife Kari of Newcastle and Mike Blair and wife Brenda of Odessa, Texas; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
