James H. Gilbert

James H. Gilbert, age 67, of Megargel, Texas, died Friday, October 18, 2019. Graveside Services will be on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Megargel Cemetery in Megargel. The family has requested no viewing and no visitation. Services are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.

James was born on May 30, 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Andrew Edmond Gilbert, Jr. and Dortha (Mahan) Gilbert. He married Candace Ann Bell on June 11, 1978 in Wichita Falls and had recently moved to Megargel. James was a very handyman, who enjoyed working, and on his days off, tinkering with things around the house. James loved to be outside doing yard work with his wife. Next to that, he looked forward to his family's annual camping trips and beach vacations in Port Bolivar. James loved every second he got to spend with his grandkids and great grandkids. On days he felt adventurous, he would take them on bike rides to Lucy Park. But he didn't spend all his time working and being outdoors; James enjoyed watching old movies and musicals along with watching historical and educational documentaries. James was a beloved man by all of his family and friends.

James is survived by his wife, Candace (GiGi) Gilbert of Megargel; one son and daughter-in-law, Zachary and Tambi (Franklin) Gilbert of Archer City; one daughter and son-in-law, DeLaney and Samuel Clayton of Megargel; nine grandchildren: Jordon Tedrow, Hailee Clayton, Shelby Pierce, Aaron Clayton, Gracie Clayton, Mariah Gilbert, Torie Gilbert, Aliyah Gilbert and Isaac Gilbert; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Donna Gilbert of Springfield, Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Forrest Dwayne Dark of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
