Obituary

JC York was born on September 4, 1936 to Louie and Annie (Dickerson) York. He passed from this world on July 14, 2025. Memorial service will be held at Olney Methodist Church on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 1:30 pm. Visitation will follow service at the church

He married the love of his life, Wilma Foster on February 20, 1959. He was so proud of their 66 years of happy marriage. JC grew up the seventh of nine children, and as such, was pretty ornery. He loved a good prank, especially if one of his brothers was helping him pull it off. He absolutely loved aggravating the nieces and nephews every chance he got. He dearly loved watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren compete or perform; he just loved being a part of their lives. Even though he loved to pester, he always made sure he told everyone how much he loved them.

Family was the most important thing to him next to his relationship with Jesus. He made sure people knew the importance of that relationship and its place in their lives.

JC is survived by his wife, Wilma; his son Phillip York and wife Diane of Earth; his daughter Kathy Shifflett and husband Danny of Olney; grandchildren DJ Shifflett and wife Mary of Abilene, Tanner Shifflett and wife Ashlie of Olney, Shelley (York) Bills and husband Curt of Dimmitt, and Jacy (York) Attaway and husband Tyler of Bay City; and great grandchildren Case Gray, Coy Shifflett, Grady Bills, Bowen Bills, Barrett Bills, Flynt Shifflett, Kanyon Shifflett and Levi Attaway. He is also survived by two sisters-in- law, Virblene Talbott and Carolyn York and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son Wesley York, his parents, his brothers: Raymond and wife Vonda, Floyd (Junior) and wife Barbara Etta, Robert and wife Billie Joe, L.H. (Bodie) and wife Patsy, and Ronnie; and his sisters Lena Mae (Sis) and husband James Beasley, Margie and husband Pete Robertson, and Betty Jean and husband Bobby Goodwin.  He often joked that they must all be wondering what had happened to him since he hadn't shown up to heaven yet.

JC was known as a hardworking, honest, fun loving man. He will be an asset to heaven and an inspiration to those he left behind. He will truly be missed by all those who loved him.

The family requests donations be sent to Olney Senior Cub Center, P.O. Box 216, Olney, TX 76374 or Olney Methodist Church, P.O. Box 305, Olney, TX 76374.
