Jerold D. Norris, age 84 of Megargel, Texas died February 11, 2022, at Graham, Texas.  Graveside services will be February 14, 2022, at 2 pm at the Megargel, Texas Cemetery. Rev. John Sweigart of Jacksonville, Arkansas will officiate, assisted by Rev. Harrell Braddock, Jr., Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Olney, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.

Jerold was born April 12, 1937 in Snead, Alabama to Era Norris and raised by his mother and beloved grandfather Thomas (Papa) Norris. He attended Alabama public schools and entered the United States Air Force at the age of 18 yrs old.  During his military career he served as a courier and attaché service prior to training in aircraft and missile environmental systems. He served in several overseas assignments including Germany, Azores, Philippines and Viet Nam.  Following his retirement from the military, he attended Spartan College of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was licensed in aircraft maintenance technology. He was employed with Northrop Aircraft, SAFB Wichita Falls, Texas and at the municipal airport, Augusta, Kansas.  Jerold loved country music, hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle with friends.

He met his wife Marilyn Fichte at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas where she was serving as the Hospital Field Director for The American Red Cross. They were married in Megargel, Texas September 7, 1968.

Jerold is preceded in death by his mother, Era McKleroy; 4 brothers, Rocky Norris, Lee Norris, Jimmy Wilson, Charles Wilson; and one sister, Mary Norris Barnes, all of Alabama.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn of the home, several nieces and nephews, and a few "old" friends.
