Jerry (Geraldine) Cox, age 84, died on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at her home in Olney, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Restland Cemetery in Olney with Steve Collard, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Jerry was born on December 23, 1932 in Golden, Texas to the late Lewis and Rosa (Thomas) Bishop. She married Charlie Clinton Newsom in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1995. She later married Houston Cox. Jerry was a retired mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Olney. Jerry was a self taught musician as a bass player. She played in many bands from Olney to Graham area. She loved music.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula Benton of Olney, Texas; her son, Charlie Newsom of Grand Prairie, Texas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
