Jerry Damron, age 79, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at Hamilton Hospital in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2019, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Jessie Rowe, officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Jerry was born on January 23, 1940 in Jacksboro, Texas to the late Euel Allen Damron and Mattie Ethel Pruitt. He married Jerita Lough on February 19, 1960 in Graham. They moved to Olney in 1962 and began their life long journey of working and raising their children. Jerry was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He had a great love of Bluegrass music and went to the Perrin Bluegrass festivals. He enjoyed the camping trips he and Jerita took and wherever they went, he never met a stranger. Jerry worked for TXDOT for thirty-nine years, and after his retirement, he became owner and operator of Damron Grader Service and he loved rolling dirt. Jerry loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed listening to his grandson play the fiddle. Each one of his grandchildren has special stories about Papa and he will be missed dearly.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and a great-grandson, Jacob Silas Blassingame.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jerita Damron of Olney; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Craver of Marshall and Janice and Charlie Stanley of Olney; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Regina Sue Damron of Olney; ten grandchildren, Justin Blassingame, Brad Blassingame, Matthew Stanley, Crystal Damron, Jeff Damron, Jamie Suarez, Megan McIntosh, Kayla Conder, Nathan Conder, Kristin Conder; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Richard Damron of McKinney, Bobby Damron of Boyd and Freddie Damron of Bryson.
