Jerry Don Manuel, age 85, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Elbert, Texas. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Scotte Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Elbert Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Jerry was born on May 18, 1941, in Elbert, Texas, to the late William P. and Minnie Lee (Smith) Manuel. Jerry was a lifetime resident of Elbert, Texas. He married Sherron Cribbs on August 21, 1959. He retired from Crown Cork & Seal after more than 30 years. He then worked for Kerr Glass and retired from there. He went to work at Diab Corporation and finally retired to do what he loved most, which was farming and ranching.
He loved his wife and children above all and spent his life working to provide for his family. Jerry also dedicated his life to young people. He coached Pee Wee Football and Baseball for many years. He took three teams to the baseball World Series. He also coached a young adult semi-pro baseball team, and they won the NABA Championship.
Jerry also started the first Pop Warner football team in Hawley, Texas, in 1980.
He was the most courteous person you ever knew, and he was a loving and giving person.
He loved music, especially George Jones and music with his family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William P. and Minnie Lee (Smith) Manuel. his brothers, Hershel Manuel, O.C. Manuel, Raphel Manuel, Cloyce Manuel, Larry Manuel; his sisters, Laverne McCarson and Reba Mahler; and one grandson, Cade Manuel.
Jerry is survived by his wife Sherron (Cribbs) Manuel of Elbert, Texas, four sons, Raphel Manuel of Godlley, Texas, Rusty and his wife Rhonda Manuel of Hawley, Texas, Duain and his wife Tomalynn Manuel of Elbert, Texas, Rodger Manuel of Newcastle, Texas, one brother Lyndel and his wife Lymarlis Manuel of Elbert, Texas, two sisters Laquita Kee of Amarillo, Texas and Floybeth Frost of Elbert, Texas. He had 9 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
