Obituary

Jimmy Garland Burrows, a cowboy and long term resident of Eastern New Mexico and West Texas, passed away on December 24, 2021 in Graham, Texas.  He was 81 years old.

Jimmy is survived by his twin boys, Chet (Eden) Burrows and Bret (Mary Jen) Burrows, as well as his grandchildren, Tanner (Charitie) Kube, Hoyt (Kaitlin) Burrows, Wyat Burrows, Cauy Burrows, Clayton Burrows, and Abigail Burrows, and one great-grandson, Zayn Kube.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Carolyn Ann Burrows; his daughter, Shannon Denise Burrows; his grandson, Spencer Drew Kube; his brother, Roy Dennis Burrows; and his sister, Betty Shook.

Jimmy was born on April 24, 1940 in Lubbock, Texas to Roy and Lotella Ann Burrows.  He married his sweetheart, Carolyn Ann Warren, on June 29, 1961 and remained happily married for over 56 years until her passing in 2017.  They had 3 children, Shannon, Bret, and Chet.

Jimmy was a devoted father and grandfather.  He grew up in the Lubbock area and started working at The Matador Land and Cattle Company at the tender age of 13, first as a cook's helper (Hoodlum Boy) and later as a full fledged cow hand.  He was a cowboy through and through and spent most of his life riding some of the best horses in the country.  He always took pride in doing things the "old way" and was always quick to point out how "if you can't do it horseback, it ain't worth doin!"  He was truly memorable.

A memorial service will be scheduled in the near future.  If you would like to attend, please contact Bret Burrows of Pagosa Springs, Colorado or Chet Burrows of Olney, Texas.
