Obituary

Johnny "Grumpy" Clayton, age 71, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, with Rev. David Kee, officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.

Johnny was born on February 9, 1951, in Sunset, Texas to the late Junior Lee Clayton and Anita Joy (Swaim) Clayton. He was a lifetime resident of Olney and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He married Sheila Morgan on December 6, 1968, in Olney. He later married Linda Wilson on May 4, 1983. Johnny and Angela York were married on November 19, 1999, in Olney. Johnny was a mechanic for the City of Olney for 37 years until his retirement in August of 2013. He loved working on anything with wheels and especially enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed going to car shows in the area and was thrilled when he would win in his category with his Rat Rod. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being a "grumpy". Johnny always considered himself just an old hippie.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Bobby Clayton and Gary Clayton; and by a granddaughter, Lindsay LeAnn Sefcik.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Angela Clayton of Archer City; five daughters: Melissa Clayton Richey of Olney, Michelle Clayton Weatherford of Olney, Misty Clayton of Wichita Falls, Myranda Clayton of Megargel and Brianna York of Olney; two sons and daughters-in-law: Caleb York and wife Briana of Granbury and Conner York and wife Avery of Bridgeport; one sister, Joyce  Clayton of Olney; two uncles: Roger Swaim and wife Glenda of Bowie and Caroll Swaim and wife Janice of Bowie; two fur babies: Peanut and Kitty; seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
