Jose "JJ" Aleman, age 55, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at his home in Olney, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 10:00 am at Horizon Country Church, with Eugene Weldon officiating. Burial to follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

JJ was born on June 29, 1969, in Casa Grande, Arizona, to the late Jose Ortega, Sr. and Carmen (Aleman) Espinoza. JJ moved from Eloy, Arizona, to Olney in 1980, where he worked as a butcher in the meat department at Stewarts Grocery Store for many years. He worked in the meat market as a stocker, deli counter, grinder, and many other things in the market.  He proudly served in the Army National Guard for several years.  JJ loved to cook, especially when he had friends and family over to watch his Dallas Cowboys. Above all, JJ was a known family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved above all else.

JJ was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Espinoza; his father, Jose Ortega, Sr.; his grandfather "dad" Arcadio Aleman, Jr.; his grandmother "mom" Rita Aleman; His grandson, Carson Hall, and his aunt, Augustina "PeeWee" Pena.

Survivors include his two daughters, Kelsey Denton and Courtney Aleman, both of Olney, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Trampas and Macy Patton of Olney, Texas; six grandchildren: Aralynn Aleman, Brenlee Hall, Delilah Hall, Lawson Patton, Knyla Denton, and one on the way – Liam Patton; five brothers and two sisters-in-law: Jose Ortega of Odessa, Texas, Dan and Augustina Aleman of Coolidge, Arizona, Alfredo Aleman of Mesa, Arizona, Martin and Delores Espinoza of Eloy, Arizona, and Jaime Ortega of Midland, Texas; his sister Melinda Espinoza of Casa Grande, Arizona; the mother of his children Cheryl Aleman of Olney, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
