Josh Lisle, age 76, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas. No services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Josh was born on September 26, 1947, in Olney, Texas to the late Pete and Alene (Busby) Lisle. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received his honorable discharge on September 11, 1970, at the rank of SP-5. During his service, Josh received many medals, badges and commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Bars and the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service while assigned to the United States Army Support Command, Qui Nhon, Republic of Vietnam. He was a member of VFW Post 4372. He retired from oilfield sales after a successful career and was known for a strong work ethic. Josh married Nancy Roland on January 26, 1995, in Odessa, Texas. He had a very kind and forgiving spirit and touched many lives that he didn't even know. Josh enjoyed many activities including boating, fishing, traveling to Ruidoso, New Mexico to watch the horse races and working puzzles. He loved his family dearly and his dog, Spot and BB the cat.
Josh was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, April Stowe; his brother, Rolan Lisle; his son-in-law, Jeremy Nix; and a granddaughter, Camryn Hernandez.
Josh is survived by his wife, Nancy Lisle of Runaway Bay, Texas; his daughter, Amanda Nix of Edmond, Oklahoma; his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Pam Lisle of Olney, Texas; two step-sons: Eric Bearden of Everett, Washington and Seth Bearden of Jacksonville, Florida; a step-daughter, Lisa Hernandez of Midland, Texas; eight grandchildren: Jessica Bearden, Azlyn Hernandez, Riley Joe Nix, Brady Lisle, Ryder Lisle, Landry Bearden, Byron Bearden, Emry Bearden; one great-grandson, Johnny Avina, Jr., and his nieces, nephews and cousins.
