Joyce Bishop, age 90, died Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Restland Cemetery in Olney, with her son-in-law, Carter Pirtle, pastor of First Baptist Church of Skellytown, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Joyce was born June 23, 1928 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. God had special plans for Joyce, and she found her new home on October 25, 1928, with her new loving parents, Joe Skelton and Kathryn Mae (Seals) Skelton. She was a Teacher's Aide for seventeen years with the Bishop ISD. Joyce was a longtime children's Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church in Bishop, Texas and played the piano at church in her younger years. She was an excellent seamstress and her love language was cooking, always preparing in abundance for her family and friends. Joyce loved being Mammaw to her grandchildren and truly loved her family and friends with all her heart. She married Gilbert W. Bishop on September 5, 1946 in Osage, Oklahoma. Their marriage was centered on God, and they served Him faithfully in every church where they were a member. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2014.

Joyce is survived by her two daughters: Jaxie Bishop of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kathy Pirtle and husband Carter of Skellytown; two grandchildren: Krista Pirtle of Waco, Texas and Colin Pirtle, who is attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
