Joye Lewis Simmons, age 79 of Olney, Texas passed away Monday, December 5, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Fr. Raymund Mullan of St. Theresa39s Catholic Church of Olney officiating assisted by Kelly Russell of First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery. Services are under the ion of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Joye was born September 30, 1932 in Palo Pinto County, Texas to the late Oliver Thomas and Ida Rebecca May Lewis. She and Bruce Simmons were married on February 28, 1951. They moved from Graham, Texas to Olney in 1965. Joye was a homemaker, but also an active member of several community organizations. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Order of the Eastern Star, and St. Theresa39s Altar Guild. Joye had also worked as a telephone operator in Palo Pinto, Texas, an office clerk for Dr. Masad in Richardson, Texas, a clerk in Horany39s Department Store in Olney, First National Bank in Olney, Richmond Jewelry, and John's Jewelers. She was preceded in death by her brother C.V Chick and wife Mary and her sister Lorain Newberry and husband Frank.

Joye is survived by her husband Bruce Simmons of Olney, Texas two sons: Lewis Simmons and wife Carolyn of Wichita Falls, Texas, Rodney Simmons and wife Jan of Olney, Texas a daughter Becky Beth Marchand and husband Todd of Azle, Texas seven grandchildren: Gabe Simmons and wife Calli of Belle Chasse, LA, Brad Simmons and wife Kristy of LaPorte, Texas, Brett Simmons of Denver, Colorado, Dane Simmons and wife Crystal of Olney, Texas, Katie King and husband Casey of Stephenville, Texas, Colin Marchand and B.J. Marchand both of Azle, Texas seven great grandchildren: Hunter Simmons, Justin Simmons, Morgan Simmons, Kami Bednarz, Natalie Simmons, Makayla Simmons, and Carson King.
