Kenneth Leroy Gray died peacefully at home in Garland, Texas on April 20, 2017 at the age of 72 from Pancreatic Cancer. He was born on August 10, 1944 in Olney, Texas to his parents Hubert and Ruth Gray.
Kenneth is survived by two Children, Helen Michele Gray and Shanna Lynn Zapletal of Garland; Granddaughter Michele' Renee and great granddaughter Rose Marie; Brother Hubert Gray and his wife Linda June of Olney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ruth Gray, and his brothers Billy, Jackie and Michael.
He will be remembered as a kind and gentle father and grandfather who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Kenneth was an accomplished automobile mechanic and enjoyed his trade. He worked as a mechanic at several locations over his life time, even owning his own garage at one point. He was determined to earn his GED in 1975, which allowed him to obtain a position with the City of Richardson as an ecology worker. Kenneth went on to work and retire from the City of Wyle where he served in the water department, construction inspector and city mechanic. In 2014, he won first place at the County Line Car Show for the class of Under Construction for his 1957 Ford. Kenneth enjoyed trying his luck at scratch offs and was excited when he scratched a 5,000-dollar winner last December.
The family would like to thank Hospice and all the Vitas caregivers for their efforts, care and dedication.
A memorial will be held at Lunn Funeral Home on May 6, 2017 at 10 AM with C. J. Frazier, officiating, located at 300 South Avenue M Olney, Texas 76374.
