Our beloved Laura Wylene Dewey passed peacefully on the morning of June 5, 2024, in Pasadena, CA, surrounded in love by family and friends. Born in Round Timber, Texas, September 19, 1932 into a large sharecropping family, Laura grew up picking cotton alongside her siblings and parents, John Wallace Lewis and Iva Bell Lewis.

Laura is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 60 years, Donald Lewis Dewey. She is also preceded in death by beloved Son-in-Law, Assad Haddad. Laura is survived by her 4 children; JD Dewey, Tony Dewey, Lara Ruilova, Erica Kyker, her 3 grandchildren; Nidahl Haddad, Yasmine Haddad, Ashley Hirsch, and 2 great-grandchildren; Mateo Haddad and Stella Hirsch.

Laura enjoyed international travel with her family and visited Abu Dhabi and Dubai in UAE, Italy, England, France, the Caribbean and Yucatán. She did charitable work alongside her husband in Mexico, building homes in affiliation with Whittier Presbyterian Church. Laura belonged to various chapters of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Texas, Chicago, IL, Iowa City, IA and Southern California.

Laura was not only beautiful, a loving mother and grandmother, devoted wife and caring friend, she was incredibly smart and witty. She is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial to be held at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas on 10/05/24 with internment of her ashes alongside Donald in Stinnett, Texas following.
