Lee Hughes, age 79, died Friday, August 5, 2011 at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2011 in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home, with Scotte Clark officiating assisted by Donna Hughes of Cleveland, Ohio. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the ion of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Lee was born Jerome Lee Hughes on January 29, 1932 in Fowler, Colorado, to Jerome H. and Ova Neil Barnes Hughes. He and Peggy June Goldsmith were married on September 24, 1984 in Clovis, New Mexico. They moved to Olney from Andrews, Texas in 1987. Lee worked as a Superintendent with ContelVerizon CommunicationsTelephone Company for twentytwo years. He rode in the Commemorative Pony Express that came through the area on April 3, 1999. Lee was a member of the Hamilton Street Church of Christ in Olney. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 12, 2009 a son, Clint Chase on January 4, 2005 two brothers: Gerald Hughes and James O. Hughes two sisters: Cleo Partridge and Dorisine Pendleton.
Lee is survived by five daughters: Donna Hughes of Cleveland, Ohio, Jacala Tipton of Odessa, Texas, Beverly Ashley of Nocona, Texas, Lawana Heard and husband Stacey of Olney, Texas, Christine Lough and husband Kevin of Olney, Texas thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 5:00 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
