Lessie Beatrice Keeter, age 96, died on Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Scotte Clark, minister of Hamilton Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Keeter Cemetery in Elbert, Texas following the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Lessie was born January 2, 1917, to Oscar James Thompson and Ida Lee Thompson in Newport, Texas. She was a graduate of Newcastle High School in 1935. She married Wilburn Aaron Keeter on August 7, 1937. They made their home in Elbert, Texas where they raised their two children and Mr. Keeter farmed and ranched. Mr. Keeter passed away on September 18, 1993. Lessie was a member of the Elbert Baptist Church. She served on the Brazos Telephone Co-op as a director for eighteen years. In 1995, she moved to Olney, Texas, where she served with Brazos Cellular until 1998, retiring as director because of health related issues. Lessie enjoyed spending time cooking, reading, and studying the Bible. She was a true prayer warrior and loved serving her Lord, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar James and Ida Lee Thompson; four brothers, Grady Thompson, Auldin Thompson, Aubrey Thompson, Arlie Thompson; and two sisters, Dessie Thompson Roulston and Mary Thompson.
Survivors include her two children, Garry Neal Keeter of Olney, Texas, and Donna Miller and her husband Pete of Paris, Texas; four grandchildren, Ron Neal Keeter and wife Jana of Olney, Texas, Jeff Brian Keeter and wife Treva of Olney, Texas, Julie Parrott Shelby and husband Wade of Midland, Texas, and Chad Davis Parrott and wife Stacey of Paris, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Casey Bryan Keeter and wife Mallory of Olney, Texas, Kimberly Nicole Keeter of Olney, Texas, Jordan Leigh Shelby, Allison Nicole Shelby, and Will Harrison Shelby, all of Midland, Texas; and one great-great grandchild expected in September, 2013.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 26, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
