IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda (Cooper)
Daws
November 14, 1950 – April 4, 2025
Linda Cooper Daws passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025. She was at home and surrounded by her family. She fought bravely against pancreatic cancer for two years, but the Lord decided it was her time to come home.
Linda was born on November 14, 1950, to Chester and Myrtle Cooper lovingly known as Mamyrt and Grandad. One of four siblings—Linda was a joyful, spirited child whose deep care for her family remained a constant throughout her life. Her loved ones often joked that she was her mother reincarnated—a blessing to all who knew her. Mamyrt was widely regarded as a saint, and so too was Linda. It's a joyous day that they are reunited in heaven.
Linda met Connis Daws her junior year in high school. Love at first sight is an understatement. They were married on December 31st, 1968. Those fortunate enough to know Linda and Connis know the depth of their bond. It is a pure love that lasted generations; a love that prevails through heartbreak, sadness, and even death. Connis—a purple heart veteran—was at his bravest standing faithfully by Linda's side in her last days.
Linda and Connis had three children, Keith Daws, Amy Daws Fisher and Kelly Mack Daws. They were the joys of their life. Keith and Amy grew up in Olney, enjoying a childhood filled with sports, family, and joy. Linda never missed a game, she was always there in the stands, proud and steady, cheering them on with her whole heart. The great joy of Linda's life was watching her beloved family grow and prosper.
And to Linda's delight, their family grew. This is when Linda and Connis were lovingly promoted to their most esteemed titles: Mimi and Dawzy. They were grandparents to Bucky, Koy, and Callan—the lights of their lives. Just like before, Mimi never missed a game, whether it was track, football, baseball, or basketball, Mimi was in the stands ringing her cowbell with pride for her boys. She didn't just love her grandsons, she worshipped them. She was pivotal in their lives, nurturing and guiding them with a grandmother's special kind of devotion. Through them, Mimi's grace, kindness, and fierce love lives on. Mimi's great grandchildren Rayen and Wrenley Daws whose laughter and spirit brought her endless joy. We can't forget Maggie who loved her Mimi and was by her side to the end.
Mimi was a pillar of her family and her community. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a true reflection of God's love: warm, generous, steady, and strong. In her final days, the outpouring of food, flowers, and love from friends and neighbors spoke volumes. She was a source of light and joy, and her absence will be felt widely. Mimi was everything to everyone, and everyone will miss her deeply.
Linda is survived by the love of her life, and devoted husband of 56 years, Connis Daws. Son Keith Daws and wife Brandie, daughter Amy Daws Fisher and husband Barry, brother Jerry Cooper and wife Patricia. Grandsons Bucky Daws and wife Mikaela, Koy Daws and wife Shayla, Callan Ritz, Porter and Tatum Elliott and Jack and Peyton Myers. Great grandchildren Rayen and Wrenley Daws, Heston Elliott, and soon to arrive Whitlee Myers, and many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her Ninny.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Myrtle Cooper, siblings Jackie Cooper and Donna Marney and son Kelly Mack Daws.
Finally, the family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the caregivers, nurses, and healthcare workers who treated Mimi and the family with dignity, love, and adoration. Particularly, Doctor Kenneth Iwuji of the Texas Tech University Medical Center. Dr. Iwuji's compassion and advocacy for Mimi was a calm in our storm. We are forever grateful for you. Angels are among us, and you are one of them.
Mimi was perfect, and the world is a little less perfect now that she is not here, but her love and legacy will live in all of us. We will miss her every day.
