Lynda was born on April 23, 1955 in Olney, Texas to the late Melvin W. Helton and Thelma Rheudean (Woolfolk) Helton. She was a lifetime resident of Olney and graduated from Olney High School Class of 1973.
Lynda married Steve Leatherwood on April 23, 1977, in Olney, Texas, marking the beginning of their 47-year journey together. They had their fair share of ups and downs, but their adventures truly started in recent years. Last year, Lynda, Steve and Tiffany took the road trip of a lifetime, traveling along Route 66 from Groom, Texas to Santa Monica, California, stopping at various landmarks and attractions along the way. Beyond her love for road trips, Lynda was also deeply devoted to her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with her granddaughter, laughing, and playing games together; attended concerts featuring Elvis tribute artists; went on "girl weekends" with her besties; ate s'mores at family cookouts; enjoyed her Olney 50th class reunion; and made countless memories with those she loved. As a wife, mother, sister and Nanna, Lynda's kindness and warmth touched everyone she met.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, one niece and one nephew.
Lynda is survived by her husband, Steve Leatherwood of Olney; two daughters and one son-in-law: Samantha and Michael Stuhlman of Weatherford, Texas and Tiffany Leatherwood of Olney, Texas; one grandchild, Skyla Stuhlman of Weatherford, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Vickye and Ed Shultz of Aledo, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Elizabeth Helton of Grand Prairie, Texas; as well as thirteen nieces and nephews.
