Mary Lou was born November 7, 1931, in Olney, Texas to the late Elic C. Bracey and Myrtle Gilmore Bracey. She attended Lone Oak, Terrapin, and Olney Schools. She married the love of her life, Bobby Goldsmith, on November 12, 1948, in Farwell, Texas. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. For 35 years she was known throughout the community as the "Avon lady," which brought her joy and many life-long friendships. She taught herself to play piano by ear at the age of 7. Her family has many fond memories of gathering in the living room to sing as she played their favorite hymns. She possessed many talents including cooking, writing poetry and stories, needlework, and oil painting, but her greatest talent was loving and caring for her family.
Mary Lou and Bobby enjoyed driving country roads, searching flea markets, and hosting the Olney Jamboree with their family. In their later years, senior adult church trips became an annual adventure for them.

She is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Ronnie Cowart of Olney, Jo Ann and Stephen Larimore of Wichita Falls, Susan and Bryon Piercy of Olney and son-in-law Gary Snody of Olney; nine grandchildren, Brad Snody, Kandi and Michael Nash, Kristin and Chris Crawford, Sharla and Troy Crawford, Jennifer and Seth Vogler, Josh Cowart, Andrea and Alex Mason, Justin and Nikole Piercy, Kolton and Tayler Piercy; 16 great-grandchildren Bennett Snody, Seth, Crayton, and Easton Nash, Cooper and Caleb Crawford, Kaden White, Jonah Watson, Sloane and Parker Vogler, Austen and Millie Mason, Maggie, Jolee, and Boen Piercy, and, last but not least, Baby Piercy expected in April 2023.
